Despite the increasing popularity of mushroom foraging, there are still no modern bags designed for it. Inspired by foragers’ DIY solutions and adjacent activities like harvesting, Matsutake replaces the bulky, awkward basket with a detachable container that’s worn on the front while actively picking and clips securely onto the back for the hike out.

Pockets on the straps and waist belt provide access to equipment such as knives and brushes when picking, while the primary bag stores hiking essentials and a hydration bladder. The container’s drawstring closure secures its contents and its magnetic buckles can be easily released or adjusted.

Through a business class, Natanya and an external group continued to develop the backpack. They've manufactured an initial run of 100 bags, selling 40 within a month of launch.
