Family

There are many nice, thoroughly designed kitchen tools for home cooks, yet the typologies and archetypes of all of these tools originate in professional kitchens. And despite professional cooks’ desire and appreciation for quality, designed tools, there are few made with them in mind.

Family is a set of five cooking implements designed to meet the needs of professional cooks in materials, function, ergonomics, and aesthetics. Alongside the tools is a 100-page publication that documents the design process and decisions and provides some context and history for these tools and restaurant kitchens.
