Thermocline is a publication that traces my shifting sense of belonging in Shanghai. While Shanghai is often seen as an ultra-modern city, my memories were shaped more by its mundane rhythms of everyday life. Framed through the contrasting lenses of hot and cold, the publication documents moments of familiarity and estrangement each time I return. The two-in-one book structure mirrors how my perceptions of the city are never just black or white, hot or cold, but always drifting and unresolved. Thermocline becomes a reflection on memory, place, and the in between of embracing my own identity.
